Advent in Kindergarten

Our class has been lighting a virtual candle each week of advent and learning cool Christmas facts around the world with our interactive Advent Calendar.
Our service project this year serves children both here and in Haiti. Our students have been donating their old, used crayons to fill the feed sack for students in Haiti. One thing that struck my students from my mission trip was that the children at the Kobonol school had no crayons. The students here often complained about broken ones or old ones and have now learned how lucky they are to have so many and  were more than willing to share.
Our second project serves Birth Right. They have been collecting coins for mothers in need. We have almost filled an entire baby bottle!

Some of our Celebrations

Kindergarten is a blast... Can you believe we've made it 50 day in Kindergarten? We are too cool for school in these pictures. We counted by 5's and 10's to 50. We even listened and danced to 50's music!

Guardian Angels

Angel of God, My Guardian dear,
To whom God's love commits me here.
Ever this day be at my side,
To light, to guard, to rule, to guide.
Amen

Family Tree

Check it out!

We had a Blast at the Orchard

We had a great time at the orchard and came home with our own pumpkin and bag of juicy apples. Some students said they'd even bake Mrs. Adams a pumpkin pie... I like apple pies too :)

August Snack Calendar

Each month we will send home a snack calendar. If it is your snack day, we will send home the "snack sack" with your child the night before, please return it filled with snack for the day (We snack at about 2:30). We have 23 students in this class so please pack enough for each child. Please do not send anything with nuts or dark colored frosting.
This is a nut-free classroom in order to protect those with allergies. We can't have dark colored frosting or juice as it stains the carpeted floor. We prefer individually wrapped snacks because it makes the distribution that much easier for the student snack helper. Some snack ideas include fruit snacks, clementine oranges, cheezits, goldfish crackers, animal crackers etc.

Birthdays are an important day and we will celebrate in class with a Birthday snack. It is acceptable to send cupcakes, cookies or cookie cakes on these days but, again, please do not send anything with dark or bold colored frosting it stains clothes, tables and carpets.

‘Twas the Night Before School Started
‘Twas the night before school started,
When all through the town,
The parents were cheering.
It was a riotous sound!
By eight, kids were washed
And tucked into bed…
When memories of homework
Filled them with dread!

New pencils, new folders, and uniforms too!
New teachers, new friends…
Their anxiety grew!
The parents just giggled when
They learned of the fright
And shouted at bedrooms –

“Go to bed! It’s a school night!”

Teaching Mission to Haiti

In November, myself and three of our All Saints Teachers will be heading to Haiti on a mission trip to teach English. This is the same school that Father Kastl visited and shared with the students. Please see our link for more information.

Thank you,
